It has been quite a long while. Last year was very hectic. Real life has taken up quite a lot of important play time. However, I think I can do better time management in 2026. So, here is to a new beginning of The Greylord Archive.

I have moved out of Google Blogger and into my own domain: greylordarchives.org. This is partly because I wanted to play around with my own blog-server and partly part in my movement away from big tech. Let’s see how this pans out.

I’ll try to do what I have normally done and write some battle reports. This time around it will be mostly Old Umbrey and not Winter Korps. However, it is still Khador!

First up is this year’s Rhein Con. I’ll get the pictures and hopefully have time to write up the experience.

We received the long awaited Old Umbrey through out 2025 and into 2026. I now have what I need. I have managed to play some casual games and a few tournaments. Old Umbrey has proven quite difficult to play; in particular for an old Khador player who is used to simple rules, no fancy interactions and no gotcha. The followers of the Old witch are quite different. Stuff stack, order of activation has become very important, and corpses are involved. It has been a learning curve.

Ihave managed to play quite a few games lately and gone to some tournaments. I might write some of the up at some point. I have been doing so-so.

I did go to the WTC and did really poorly. It was a new army, not all the models I wanted weren’t released and painted in time; and most importantly, I did not prepare properly. It was, however a fantastic tournament in lovely Sweden.

This year we are attempting to prepare really well for this year’s WTC in Poland. We are very lucky to be able to send three teams. We are trying out a must more structured and strict approach to training. I might be worth a blog post at some point in the foreseeable future.

As a side note, I have managed to photograf the Old Umbrey models I have painted and put them in a gallery here.

Most, if not all of the models are marvellous. However, I’m not sure I’m too happy with the use of digital 3D sculpting. It allows for a tremendous amount of details. They are obviously nice to look at but painting them is a whole different story. I managed to finish a unit of Liegemen Ursans, and by George there is a lot of details. Next big project is a Gorger…

I have also been dabbling in 3D printing of primarily terrain. I love being able to have proper terrain on the table. Yet, more painting to do.

Welcome to the archives. This is a blog about Warmachine and Hordes, primary about our glorious motherland Khador.

I have been playing Warmachine since the early part of this millennium, and playing other miniature and role playing games for a life time. Since I started Warmachine, it has mostly been this. Other systems just don’t seem to cut it anymore.

This blog will be mostly about Khador. I have been playing quite a few other factions, both in Warmachine and Hordes, but I do tend to return to the glorious motherland.

I am a mediocre player and mediocre painter. Yet, I often miss finding mediocre blogs. So here is my attempt at spreading mediocracy.
